Early A.M. Accident Snarls Traffic

Local News

A single vehicle accident just south of the garbage dump on Highway 97 has sent one woman to hospital.

While police say road conditions were not a factor, the RCMP is considering issuing the driver of this car a violation ticket.

The vehicle was travelling southbound this morning when witnesses say she lost control and the vehicle ended up on its roof in the ditch.

“Witnesses say they saw the vehicle airborne…at this time there is no indication that road conditions were a contributing factor” says RCMP shift supervisor Michael Buxton-Carr.

"All I saw when I came around the corner was a plume of dust and debris," recalled a bystander.

Police say they are investigating the incident as a single car crash and may issue the woman a violation ticket due to driver error.

The woman was taken to Vernon Jubilee Hospital with minor head and hand injuries.
