Police are searching for a male suspect after a man was robbed picking up a stranger at around 3:00 a.m. this today.
The man reported that he had been driving on 25th Avenue when a man flagged him down in front of Lincoln Lanes.
“An unknown man asked him if he knew where Okanagan Avenue was,” says RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk.
The suspect offered the driver twenty dollars for a ride to the location.
When the men arrived in the vicinity of Okanagan Avenue and 36th Street, the suspect male asked the man to pull over then pulled out a large knife, says Molendyk.
The suspect yelled for the man to “give me everything you have,” at which time the victim jumped from the car and ran.
The suspect drove off with the vehicle, along with his victim’s wallet and identification.
Police say the male was in his mid-twenties and wore a dark hoodie and jeans during the heist.
RCMP are describing the suspect as a Caucasian male, weighing approximately 160 lbs, possibly with facial hair. The stolen car is described as a gold Mazda 626 with B.C. license plate 728REL.
