Police are asking for the public's help following an incident of attempted wire theft.
A Kalamalka Security guard was the first to notice that the green covers of three lamp posts near the Vernon Recreation Centre parking lot were removed February 9th at approximately 10:30 p.m.
RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk says the wires had been cut and readied for removal.
"The mischief was reported to bylaw officers working that evening and a suspicious vehicle was noticed in the area," he says.
Police are asking the public to call should they see suspicious activity around light standards or know of any activity involving theft of copper wire.
The RCMP would also like to remind those people who have snow mobiles one their truck or on trailers to be extra vigilant in securing them and the vehicle.
"You should consider an immobilizer in the vehicle and cable-lock your sleds to the vehicle. We always see and increase around this type of year...especially in areas where there is a concentration of snowmobiling," says Molendyk.
Any information about either crimes can be reported to Crimestoppers at 1.800.222. TIPS.
