Police interview a female clerk of the store following the crime. Photo: VernonCentral staffA local robbery last evening has Vernon police searching for a suspect.
At around 6:00 p.m. Wednesday night, officers were called to the Vernon Lodge beer store after a report of the theft of cash and booze from the 3914 32nd Street location.
The suspect, clad in a balaclava, tweed coat and green scarf, escaped on foot following the heist.
It appears the suspect was unarmed, however police are continuing to follow up with witnesses who saw the man run off, leaving the female store clerk unharmed in the brazen take.
A K-9 unit called to the scene failed to return a track of the suspect.
More information as it becomes available.
