The RDNO Board of Directors have decided your fate after amendments to current recycling and disposal fees in the area.
New fees, directly changing the current Municipal Solid Waste Management bylaw, will take effect Wednesday, February 1st 2012 and are bound to raise a few eyebrows to those sectors who will be hit hard by rising disposal costs.
The fees include:
- An increase in the refuse disposal fee from $85/tonne to $88/tonne.
- Construction and demolition waste will increase by $5/tonne to $160 per tonne.
- The fee for disposal of Regulated Material with refuse (i.e. asphalt roofing, yard and garden waste, glass, scrap metal, wood and Blue Bag recyclables) increases by $5/tonne to $160/tonne
- The disposal fee for inadequately secured loads will increase by $5/tonne to $160 per tonne. The minimum charge for an inadequately secured load will decrease from $20 to $10.
- The fee for recyclable clean asphalt shingles decrease by $8/tonne, to $82/tonne.
- The fee for mattresses and box springs will increase by $1 per unit to $6 per unit.
A complete list of Regulated Materials, the amended Municipal Solid Waste Management Bylaw as well as a complete Recycling and Disposal Fee schedule can be viewed, as of February 1, 2012, on the RDNO website at www.rdno.ca
